中国西部的建筑奇观——中西合璧的华西坝近代建筑群

成都华西坝，是过去的教会大学华西协合大学，今日四川大学华西校区所在地。华西坝由上百幢风格各异的建筑组成，这里的大小楼群，会带领我们回首百年前的历史。早在20世纪初，中西文化在这里交汇，一所西式大学在中国西部诞生。全校图样由英国建筑家弗烈特·荣杜易设计绘制，创立了中西合璧的建筑群体，成为沟通中西文化的象征。华西坝建筑多在1920年代前后十年间兴建落成，它们的样式、风格，在当时就被奉为典范，被认为在中国“独一无二”、“并且也被中国其他大学所采用”，三四十年代华西坝一度非常著名。繁荣时期的华西坝建筑上百幢，保存至今的有20余幢，这些建筑是这所百年校园灵魂和精神的承载物。这里的学术薪火相传不绝，是文化繁荣的成都文明的象征。华西坝建筑不仅得到几代人的精心维护，被列文物保护建筑，华西坝还被列为成都市历史文化保护区。
A Miracle in West China—— Hua Xi Ba

Abstract: Hua Xi Ba, was the sites of a Christian university, West China Union University in the past, and the sites of the Hua Xi Campus of Sichuan University. With its over one hundred buildings of various styles, will lead us in the retrospect of the history a century ago. In the beginning of?20th Centery , The West and the East met with eacher in Chengdu, one western university was established in West China. The campus blueprint was drawn by an English architect Fred Rowntree, who, designing the buildings in Hua Xi Ba , which became a bridge between the Chinese and western culture because of its combination of architectural elements from both cultures. Most of the buildings were constructed in the twenties and thirties of last century. Their style was epitomized as unique in China, and copied in other university campuses. In the 1930s and 40s, Hua Xi Ba was very famous for its spacious campus. There were about one hundreds important buildings in the past, but there only are about twenty buildings upto now. The group of historical buildings is the soul of the famouse university, and is the symbol of Chengdu Culture, which has been protected by the generations living and working here. Now, they are included in the Municipal Protected Architecture scheme of Chengdu City.
