藏族历史与历代中央政权有着紧密的联系。本研究方向主要着力于拓展和深化藏族历史的研究、汉藏关系以及西藏地方与中央政权关系之间内在关联性的探讨。本研究方向涵盖藏族历史、宗教、汉藏关系及西藏地方与历代中央政权关系等众多领域，分别涉及了历史学、宗教学、民族学和考古学等学科的理 论与方法，其综合性、交叉性极强。目前，康藏史研究和藏彝走廊研究已成为本所在藏学研究中一个独特的学术领域。

Tibet has had a close relationship with the successive Chinese central governments in history. This research field focuses on expanding and deepening the study of Tibetan history by paying special attention to Sino-Tibetan relations, particularly the inherent relationships between the Tibetan local government and successive Chinese central governments. With its strong integrative and cross-disciplinary approaches, the field includes such sub-fields as Tibetan history, religion and Sino-Tibetan relations, etc. It involves the theories and methodologies in the fields of history, religion, the studies of ethnicity, and archaeology. At present the study of Kham history and the study of the “Tibetan-Yi corridor” have already become unique academic areas of research in Tibetan studies at the Center.
